Gerakas Beach is located on the southeastern tip of Zakynthos. The sandy beach is located in a semi-circular bay surrounded by cliffs. Gerakas Beach is one of the main breeding grounds for the sea turtle “Caretta-Caretta”, which is also explained in a nearby visitor center.

There is a very large, free car park, from which you can reach the beach in about 5 minutes by feet. The part of the beach closest to the entrance is filled with beach chairs and parasols. The further away you go, the fewer there are. There is also a nudist beach at the eastern end of the bay.

At the western end of the beach there is a cut valley with an interesting erosion landscape. The softer rock was eroded by water, leaving behind bizarre erosion forms made of white sandstone. There is also a gravel track above the valley. To do this, simply follow the turnoff to the right before the beach entrance. The detour takes about 5 minutes to walk and is definitely worth it.
